HOW LONG DOES THE IRS HAVE TO AUDIT ME

FAMILY OWNED TAX DEBT SETTLEMENT BUSINESS SINCE 1977!

The general rule is that if the IRS does not audit you within three years of the time you filed the return, you will not be audited. However, if later you are audited because you omitted more than 25% of the gross income reported on the return, the IRS can go back 6 years. If you file a fraudulent return with the intent to evade taxes the IRS can go back as far as they want.
