Tax Debt Advisors, Inc.—You can extend the time to pay your IRS Taxes

Everyone is aware that you can extend the time to file your return with IRS Form 4868 for six months.  This is an automatic extension and it also extends the time to file your Arizona state tax return if you live in the greater Phoenix AZ area.

You can also extend the time to pay your taxes but you must show that you would suffer an “undue hardship.”  If you are considering requesting an extension of time to pay your taxes, you probably need professional assistance.  Even if you are approved to pay your taxes later, you will still have to pay the going IRS interest rate.  This interest rate fluctuates every quarter.

Remember that the failure to file penalty is ten times worse than the failure to pay penalty.  Never if at all possible file late.  It may not be possible to pay your taxes but most of the time you can file by the due date.  Many taxpayers are mistaken to wait until they can pay their taxes before filing them.  The failure to file penalty is up to 25% for the first five months you miss a filing deadline.

Call Scott Allen E.A. of Tax Debt Advisors, Inc. for a free initial Phoenix Arizona consultation if you are considering requesting an extension to pay your taxes.  Scott can be reached at 480-926-9300 to schedule an appointment in the Phoenix AZ area.

Tax Debt Advisors, Inc. cautions you on the “Pennies on the Dollar” IRS Advertisements

Although it is rare to hear or read about “Pennies on the Dollar” settlements with the IRS anymore, they still exist.  The reason is that phrase was used by predators taking money and advantage of vulnerable Mesa AZ taxpayers looking for an escape from their IRS tax debt.  Another reason is that most of these predator companies are out of business.  The few that still lure unsuspecting taxpayers in Mesa AZ with pennies on the dollar promises are employees of these defunct companies still trying to take advantage of taxpayers.  If you received a phone call from a company not in your area—out of state—you are best to hang up and find someone local who has been in business for a significant time and who you can meet with face to face.

Scott Allen E.A. of Tax Debt Advisors, Inc. offers a free face to face consultation about all of your IRS settlement options.

How long does it take for the IRS to release a tax lien after I pay off the liability?

The IRS has 30 days to release a federal tax lien in Peoria Arizona after it has been paid off or the statute of limitations has passed.  IRS Code Section 6325 (a) also requires the IRS to send you a copy of the Certificate of Release of Federal Tax Lien.  But this is not a perfect world.  So if you do not have the release within 35 or 40 days, you need to contact the IRS and remind them of their duties.

If you are in dispute with the IRS over your IRS tax lien, call Scott Allen E.A. of Tax Debt Advisors, Inc. for a free Peoria AZ initial consultation.
